Gene Tomlinson

Gene has over thirty years of experience working with fortune 200 corporations including Ford Motor Company, American Motors, LTV Aerospace, General Tire and Rubber's Aerojet General Division and 3M prior to his fifteen years of consulting assignments to small and medium size businesses and training activities with Ford Motor Company's Fairlane Training and Development Center.

Gene conducts quality audits for clients working toward automotive quality registrations in ISO 9000, QS-9000 and QS-9000 T.E. He is capable of providing consultative support and acts as "change agent" to the clients, as well as developing the client’s personnel in quality processes and systems. He has led clients to Ford Q1, ISO 9000, and QS-9000 certifications and is presently working with several clients on the Tooling & Equipment Supplement requirements for QS-9000 registration.

Gene is certified to teach in the Ford Training Educational Program (FTEP): Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Systems Engineering Fundamentals. He is also certified as a FMEA Express facilitator.

  In addition to the FTEP certification, Gene developed the first APQP training program for Ford and teaches the APQP Workshop, APQP Reporting Methods and ISO 9000/QS-9000 Overview courses. He has presented these quality courses to companies in Europe, Canada, Mexico and the United States.

 Gene is a Fellow of the American Society for Quality and a past chairman of the ASQ's Human Development and Leadership Division, a past member of the Ishikawa Medal Committee and active in the Quality Audit Division. He is a Certified Quality Auditor with RAB-Lead Auditor approved training. He is member in the Quality Management and Automotive Divisions of ASQ.

Gene has a B.S. and a M.S. in Chemical Engineering and a MBA from Wayne State University (WSU) in Detroit, Michigan. He has held offices in American Chemical Society (ACS), American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AICHE), and American Institute for Aeronautic and Astronautics (AIAA) technical societies and has directed WSU Alumni as its President. He is a Board member of the WSU College of Engineering Alumni Association. Gene is past president of the Birmingham Rotary Club and Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow. He is a Certified Professional Consultant and an adjunct Professor at WSU's School of Business Administration.
